CORUÑA

A CORUÑA:

An interesting visit should be: the ancient part of the city (18th Century), the romanic Church of Santiago, the gothic Colegiata of Santa María del Campo (13th Century), San Carlos Gardens and the Town Hall Palace in the Plaza de María Pita. At the far end of the peninsula we can see the city´s simbol: the Tower of Hércules, the only romanic lighthouse which still works and was partly restored in the 18th Century under Carlos the
III´s orderes. We also think it´s worth taking a walk down Marina Avenue to
contemplate the tipical crystal galeries of its houses and recommend a visit to the House of Cience and the Domus Museum dedicated to mankind.

SANTA CRUZ:

On an island, very near A Coruña, is the Castle of Santa Cruz built in the 17th Century to defend the city.

MEIRÁS:

Meirás Palace, an ancient summer residence for the Franco family. It was built by the writer Emilia Pardo Bazán and has a nice architectural line.

SADA:

Smooth sand beaches and a viewpoint over the River Betanzos. It has an important sports and fishing port. Its seafood in the local kitchens is fully recommended and has a good reputation.

BETANZOS:

In Betanzos we recommend a visit to: the romanic Church of Santiago, near which is the Palace of Lanzós; inside the gothic church of San Francisco (14th Century) is the strange tomb of Fernán Pérez de Andrade, its founder; the Church of Santa Maria of Azougue, built in a gothic style (14th Century) and its medievel streets and squares and the gates of the ancient wall. The ruins of El Pasatiempo are also very interesting.
