CÍES - VIGO

VIGO:
An industrial city and one of the most important ports in Europe. A visit to the Cathedral
should not be missed, of a neoclasic style, where the Cristo de la Victoria is venerated
(18th Century); the ancient fisherman suburb of El Berbés; the churches of Coruxo and
Bembibre from the 12th and 13th centuries each; Castrelos Park, where the Palace of
Quiñones de León is, the local Museum with an interesting art gallery sorrounded by a
splendid garden: the Monte de la Guía mirador from which you may see a spectacular
view of the river and on the hill top stands the Santuary of Nuestra Señora; and the
Mirador of Castro, sorrounded by an ancient walled building. It also has a Zoo and a
sports harbour.
SOUTOMAIOR:
It has an importante pottery industry. The oysters of Arcade are famous for their
excellent taste which can be enjoyed with Soutomaior´s Albariño wine. From Arcade you
may visit the feudal castle of Soutomaior, related to the legendary figure of Pedro
Madruga.

ISLAS CIES:
Cies Islands, can only be reached by boat from Vigo´s harbour. It
was declared National Nature Reserve and has an important colony of water birds.
