BAIONA - PORTUGAL

BAIONA:
Baiona, is a tourist town with a sports and fishing port. It is interesting to follow the
wall of the ancient fort of Monterreal (16th Century) which today is the Tourist Parador
of Gondomar. A monument reminds us that it was here where the Carabela Pinta reached
port in 1493.
OIA:
By the seaside is the Monastry of Santa María de Oia, founded in the 12th Century,
mixture of romanic and gothic style, and a baroque façade from the 18th Century. The
monks from this monastry were famous for their battles against the moors and pirates.

GUARDA- SANTA TECLA
A Guarda, fishing port with excelent seafood. Very interesting is the visit to Monte de
Santa Tecla or Tegra, in its top their is an Ancient Iron Age Settlement parcially restored
and a little Archeology Museum. It is also a magnificent Mirador over the mouth of
River Miño.
TUI:
Tui is a frontier town to Portugal. The Fort-Cathedral was built in the 12th and 13th
Century with a romanic and gothic style; ogival Church of Santo Domingo. The walk up
to the nature reserve of Monte Aloia will offer you wonderful views.
VALENÇA DO MINHO (PORTUGAL)
Valença do Minho. It is on the portuguesse side opposite to Tui. Frontier town with
walls and a fort built in the 18th Century. It offers fascinating views over the river Miño.
