This hotel is located close to A Fervenza forest where oak trees of more than 300 years can be found. This inn, an ancient miller dwelling, was originally built in front of an old mill from the 17th century, as a result of the incomes earned in those times: “…and there are only two flour mills which work with running water, one of them, owned by Don Bernardo de Vande Presbítero, in A Fervenza do Miño, which mills with three millstones only during a month per year…. and another owned by Domingo de Vande…” (Ensenada Land Registry, 1752). This historical quotation accurately enlightens the origin of this Casa Grande, which has been restored preserving the essence of old Galician country houses. Today, the old barn is a restaurant with a windowed dining room with a great view to the forest and to our original swimming pool carved in stone.

A key of the mill is given to every guest, which provides them with the possibility of opening a door leading to an idyllic river spot located in front of an island, also owned by the hotel. Close to the waterfall A Fervenza, the visitor can enjoy a natural whirlpool bath in the reservoir during the summer, and likely see otters frolicking in the sunset. Unusual and hidden lagoons beatify even more this native wood along Miño riverside. Due to the tenacity of the hotel owners in order to avoid its extinction, the NGO Bosques sin Fronteras awarded them with the National Prize “Bosque del Año 2007” (Wood of the year 2007”), in the category of threatened forest. Today, this forest is an important part of the maximum protection areas of the Biosphere Reserve Terras do Miño.

At the restaurant, guests will enjoy traditional Galician Cuisine with a touch of creativity. Specialties like “Vilalba capon” cooked in front of the customer in the old ovens where the miller used to bake bread. An innovative combination of the sophisticated low-temperature vacuum cooking and the good deeds of the old wood stove. Galician signature wines. Lunches and dinners from 20 to 30 €.
