AT
THE CROSSROADS
Casa Grande do Bachao is situated on the road that leads to the “Costa da
Morte“ (the treacherous coast line of northern Galicia) from Santiago de
Compostela. The Capital of Galicia is 15 minutes drive away from the house,
making it an ideal starting point for excursions to any destination in the
region. Nevertheless as it is situated in the middle of a 14.000 m2
estate, surrounded by trees, tranquillity and contact with nature are
guaranteed.
AN OASIS OF PEACE AMONG THE TREES
Casa Grande do Bachao is a group of buildings that is a typical example of
XVIII Century Galician architecture with two houses, corn granaries, stone
cross, and spacious stone terraces. Situated in the middle of a 14.000m2
estate with direct acess to the river Tambre, it is managed by its owner
and offers the visitor all the facilities that are demanded in a hotel of
high category, without losing its rural family atmosphere.

WHAT YOU CAN DO
Although it is the only building standing in a 200 hec wood, it is only 12 km from Santiago de Compostela, on the way to the northern Costa de la
Muerte (death coast, owing to the number of lives lost in ship wrecks
there). Its situation is perfect for enjoying nature in full and long
walks, with the bustle and culture of a City that is a World Heritage Site.
We organize all sorts of outdoor activities, with specialised companies
and accompanied by trained instructors (guided tours of Santiago, stages
on the Santiago Pilgrims’ Way, white water rafting, canoeing, quad cars,
etc). If you have the required fishing licence, at the foot of the estate
you will find a free stretch of the river Tambre. The house admits dogs.
